Willis and Shumway Honored for Efforts in The Classroom
PROVO -- Senior Andrea Willis was named to the 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-America first team for her four-year efforts in the classroom.
To be nominated for consideration, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA throughout her career and must start more than 50 percent of all games as a significant contributor to the team.
Willis was recently named an All-American for her performance on the field and has now also been recognized as a Scholar All-American for her performance off the field. Willis holds a 3.63 GPA in the Exercise Science major.
At the regional level, Willis was named to the 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-West Region first team.
Teammate Kassidy Shumway was named to the 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-West Region second team, holding a 3.38 GPA as a Civil Engineering major.
The 2009 squad was recognized for their hard work in the classroom and received an NSCAA Team Academic Award. To be nominated for this award the team must finish with a GPA above a 3.0. The BYU squad finished with a team GPA of 3.31 for the 2009 season.
