PROVO -- BYU freshman Jessica Ringwood was named Mountain West Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week and was added to TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week, Monday.

Ringwood, a native of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, tallied the game-winning goal and the first goal of her collegiate career in BYU’s 1-0 win over No. 14 Oregon on Oct. 1.

Against instate-rival Utah on Oct. 3, the Cougars and Utes were tied 1-1 heading into overtime. Ringwood’s header in the 99th minute of the contest gave BYU its seventh consecutive win and its first conference victory this season. This was BYU’s fifth game to see overtime minutes.

This is BYU’s fourth Player-of-the-Week nomination with previous awards going twice to Senior Hermann Trophy Candidate Andrea Willis and once to Freshman Carlee Payne.

Ringwood was also named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week after BYU’s sixth and seventh consecutive wins.

No. 9 BYU (10-2-1, 1-0) has now beaten four top-25 teams including West Virginia, Connecticut, Oklahoma State and Oregon.

The Cougars continue play with two away conference games this week against San Diego State on Thursday at 4 p.m. and UNLV on Saturday at 1 p.m. All times are local to the site of the contest.
