Willis named MWC Defensive Player-of-the-Week
PROVO -- Senior Andrea Willis has been named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week, announced the conference this morning.
Willis, a Riverside, Calif., native, anchored the BYU defense in the Cougar’s 1-0 win over Connecticut, a team receiving votes in the NSCAA Top-25 Poll. Willis played all 90 minutes of the game, holding the Huskies without a shot on goal for the entire contest. BYU has not allowed a goal in all three contests played so far this season.
In her junior season, Willis was named Player of the week once and SoccerBuzz.com Elite Team of the Week twice. Willis, a Hermann Trophy Watch List candidate and 2008 All-American, was also named MWC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008.
