Cougars Selected as Preseason Favorite

PROVO -- The BYU women’s soccer team has been selected to win the 2009 MWC women’s soccer title in a preseason MWC Coaches' poll.

BYU received 49 points to take first place.

TCU and Utah each received 39 points to share second place with San Diego State, UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming and Air Force coming in behind them.

BYU returns All-MWC First Team selections Lauren Anderson and Andrea Willis. The Cougars have won five regular season championships and six tournament championships since the conference was created in 1999.

The Cougars come in as the 2008 MWC regular season and conference champions and will host the 2009 Conference Tournament on November 4-7.
