PROVO, Utah – (August 6, 2009) The 2009 BYU women’s soccer season is just weeks away from starting and the defending Mountain West Conference champions are preparing hard.

The Cougars have a competitive schedule of games this season including nine games to be played at South Field against teams like William & Mary, Oklahoma State and Oregon. The Cougars will also host in-state rivals Southern Utah, Utah State and Utah.

Also on the schedule for the Cougars are games at UConn, West Virginia, Washington State and Arizona with conference games at San Diego State and UNLV.

The women’s team returns six starters and 19 letterwinners to this season’s lineup. Rejoining the team are top-performers Andrea Willis, Lauren Anderson and McKinzie Olson.

Willis was voted MWC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and named to the all-MWC First team. Anderson was named to the All-Region Freshman Team and also to the All-MWC First team. Goalkeeper Olson was ranked fourth in the nation in save percentage for her performance last year and led the MWC in shutouts.

In November, the Cougars are looking forward to hosting this year’s MWC tournament at South Field Nov. 5-7.
