Cougars Split Spring Road Trip
College Station, TEXAS -- The reigning MWC champion BYU women’s soccer team returned home after splitting a two-game trip in Texas, defeating LSU and falling to Texas A&M.
The Cougars earned a bit of revenge against LSU, a 2008 NCAA tournament team that beat the Cougars during the 2008 season defeating the Tigers 2-1. Forward Alyssa Vander Veur got the scoring started in the first half with a 30-yard shot. LSU came back to tie the game 1-1, but Kassidy Christensen knocked in a Lauren Anderson corner kick for the winning goal. Neither team would score in the second half.
In its second game of the day, BYU dropped a tough game to Texas A&M, falling 2-0. The Aggies advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in 2008, losing to eventual national champion North Carolina. Texas A&M scored both goals in the first half. The Cougars played much better in the second half, but weren’t able to convert.
