Cougars Get Back in the Saddle
PROVO -- The No. 19 BYU women's soccer team (11-1-2, 1-1-0) will look to rebound from its lone loss this season in games on the road at San Diego State (6-6-2, 1-1-0) on Thursday and at Air Force (2-10-2, 0-3-0) on Saturday.
The Cougars are ranked second in the nation in goals-against average, are tied for fourth in save percentage, and are tied for ninth in shutout percentage. They are also tied for eighth in won-loss-tied percentage.
San Diego State is coming off a 0-1 loss at UNLV. In their last meeting the two teams tied 2-2 in Provo in 2006. The Aztec's leading goal-scorer is senior Jackie Ragudos with five. She also has three assists to add to her 20 shots, 11 of which were on goal. San Diego State has been outscored 13-15 by its opponents this season, but has recorded seven shutouts in its 14 games.
Air Force lost to Wyoming 0-2 at the Air Force Academy in its last game. The Cougars beat the Falcons 1-0 last season at South Stadium. Junior Rachael Emory and Senior Katherine Slogic lead the team in goals scored with two apiece. Air Force has been outscored 10-22 by its opponents this season, but has outshot its opponents 173-155. Half of the teams' goals came in a 5-1 win over North Dakota State.
Thursday's game against San Diego State will be televised live on the Mtn. network with Bill Riley and Tammy Blackburn as the announcing talent.
