PROVO -- The No. 24 BYU women's soccer team defeated the Colgate Raiders Saturday night 2-0 at South Stadium behind the scoring of sophomore Jaime Rendich.

Rendich scored both of the Cougars' goals in the first period off of assists from senior Terra Bigelow and sophomore Charlene Lui.

"Jaime played really well for us tonight," said head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "We are going to lean on her a lot offensively this season."

The Cougars recorded their second straight shutout of the season after shutting out Colgate and playing to a 0-0 double overtime tie Friday night against No. 17 Michigan in front of a capacity crowd of 2,191, the largest crowd in South Stadium history.

In Saturday's game the Cougars out shot the Raiders 23-6 with an 11-2 advantage on corner kicks, while Colgate's goal keep, Alex Baker, recorded eight saves.

"We came out strong and had some good play off the bench," said Rockwood, "We just have to find a way to get more of those shots into the back of the net."

Next up for the Cougars (1-0-1) is No. 14 Tennessee on Friday, Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. (MDT) at South Stadium.
