BYU Women's Soccer Team Takes To The road With Games Against USC And Cal State Fullerton.

After three straight home victories, The Cougars go back out on the road with a Friday afternoon game against 9th ranked USC and a Saturday 3 p.m. kickoff with Cal State Fullerton.

BYU vs Southern California Notes

The Trojans return six starters from last year's 14-7-1 team USC is currently 4-1 on the season and is ranked 10th by the NSCAA Coaches Poll. Junior midfielder Isabelle Harvey and freshman midfielder Jennifer Prigmore top the Trojans in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points a piece. USC averages 14.0 shots on goal and 2.2 goals per game.

Series Against Southern California

The Trojans lead the series 1-0 with a last meeting during the 1998 season. USC defeated BYU 1-0 in Los Angeles.

BYU vs Cal State Fullerton Notes

Five starters are back for the Titans this season. During the 1998 year, Cal State Fullerton compiled a 8-10-1 record This season,the Titans are 3-3 to date with wins against Cal Poly Pomona, Eastern Washington and Rider. Freshman midfielder Ladan Bagheri and sophomore forward Kim Gallo have each tallied 10 points from four goals and two assists for Bagheri and five goals from Gallo. Cal State Fullerton is 2-2 on the year at home at Titan Stadium.

Series Against Cal State Fullerton

The series: 2-0. In favor of the Cougars. In the teams last contest, the Cougars defeated the Titans 3-2 in Fullerton on 8/30/97.

(On the Cougars) We've got to get our bodies healed right now. We'll have minimal practices for the next couple of days, especially for our starters. I've been very pleased with the way we've been playing and especially that our socring is very balanced.

(On opponents)

USC is playing well right now. They've been playing better teams so far this year then we have. And they just picked up huge wins over Portland and Connecticut., so they are on a roll. In our last meeting it was a very even game. We'll have to be oat our best. They (USC) are very solid and good at every position.

Cal State Fullerton is playing very well right now and are having a good season so far. We'll just have to take it one game at a time this weekend.

BYU Travel Plans

The Cougar team arrives in Los Angeles on Thursday 3:38 p.m. While there they will stay in the Radisson Hotel at 213-748-4141. Then on Saturday they travel to Fullerton staying at the Radisson there at 714-992-1700. BYU returns to Provo on Sunday, September 19 at 1:25 p.m.
