Hendershot, Reynolds Receive All-America Honors

PROVO -- Maren Hendershot picked up her second consecutive women's soccer All-America citation by the NSCAA.

Hendershot, a senior forward from Colorado Springs, Colorado was named to the First Team NSCAA/Adidas All-America, while teammate Staci Reynolds, a junior defender from Salt Lake City, Utah was named Second Team NSCAA/Adidas All-America. This is the second All-America citation for Hendershot and the first for Reynolds.

The duo were also honored as NSCAA/Adidas West All-Region First Team earlier this month. Another BYU Cougar, junior forward Sara Reading from Plano, Texas was named to the NSCAA/Adidas West All-Region Second Team.

BYU's women's soccer team finished the 1999 season ranked 20th nationally after compiling a 21-4, 5-1 record, a first-ever Mountain West Conference title, and a third straight NCAA championships appearance.

Reading and Hendershot led the explosive Cougar offense with 17 goals and 5 assist for Reading and 14 goals and eight assists for Hendershot. Reynolds played a key role in the BYU defense which had 12 shutouts on the year, and allowed opponents only 6.6 shots on goal and 0.8 goals per game.
