Goals From Viernes and Yee Propel Cougars to Shutout Over Weber

Ogden, Utah (Sept. 25, 2001) - A goal in each half, one by Jeni Viernes and one by Sarah Higham Yee, gave the 17th-ranked BYU women's soccer team a 2-0 win Tuesday over in-state rival Weber State.

Viernes scored in the 25th minute of the contest, while Yee sealed the Cougar victory with her goal in the 65th minute after receiving a pass from defender Annie Hoecherl.

BYU outshot the Wildcats 30 to 7. Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Waldron had three saves in the game, while Weber State shared the keeper position between Meagan Thunell and Kandice Golar. The duo combined for 12 saves in the game.

The Cougars host Arizona Friday at 7 p.m. and Boston University Saturday at 8 p.m. at the South Field. Note that Saturday's match against Boston is starting an hour later than originally slated.
