BYU women's soccer welcomes Tasha Bell to the coaching staff
PROVO, Utah — The BYU women’s soccer program has added Tasha Bell as an assistant coach, head coach Jennifer Rockwood announced Friday.
“We are thrilled to have Tasha join our staff,” Rockwood said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has a passion for training and coaching, and I know how excited she is to be back at BYU. Tasha will focus on our keepers, but will also be involved in all areas of our program by the fall. I believe she will have a huge positive impact on our staff and players.”
Bell completed her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at BYU in 2015 and her doctorate in family social science at the University of Minnesota in 2020 to become a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Bell competed as a Division I student athlete for the Utah Valley University women’s soccer team, and has coached at the DI collegiate level for eleven years at UVU and Minnesota. She has been a part of five regular season conference championships, four tournament conference championships, has coached five All-Americans, 105 all-conference student-athletes and 113 academic all-conference student athletes.
During her time as a goalkeeper for the UVU Wolverines from 2004-2006 and 2009, Bell earned all-conference and academic all-conference awards. She served a Spanish-speaking mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chicago, Illinois Mission from 2007-08. Following her mission, Bell helped UVU win the Great West Conference regular season championship and tournament title as the senior goalkeeper.
The Farmington, Utah native has enjoyed working in sports in a variety of positions across several universities. Most recently, Bell was back at her alma mater working as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program.
“I am very excited and grateful to be joining BYU women’s soccer,” Bell said. “Coach Rockwood has built an incredible program with remarkable student-athletes who I am blessed to be able to work with. It is an exciting time to be here, as we enter a new era of BYU Athletics in the Big 12, and continue to compete for national championships.”
Before her most recent years at UVU, Bell worked at BYU from 2018-2021 serving as a mental health and strength coach. She also spent a year with BYU football, helping with player development and recruiting.
