No. 9 BYU hosts the No. 25 University of Colorado, Boulder for 2022 home opener

PROVO, Utah — The Cougars host the Buffaloes for the 2022 season home opener at South Field on Monday.

Monday’s matchup is scheduled for 3 p.m. MDT. The game will be carried live on BYURadio.org/BYU Radio app/BYU Radio 107.9 FM. The game will also be streamed on the BYUtv App.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. BYU (2-0) began its 2022 regular season with back-to-back wins against Cal State Fullerton (1-0) and Ohio State (2-0). The Cougars most recently beat Ohio State on Friday, Aug. 26 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Junior captain Jamie Shepherd scored both goals for her first multi-goal game at BYU and both assists came from forward Brecken Mozingo.

THE BUFFALOES. Colorado (3-0) began its 2022 regular season with strong offensive strategies, combining for three back-to-back-to-back wins against Weber State (5-1), San Diego (5-0) and Valpo (3-0). Under the direction of head coach Danny Sanchez (11th), the Buffs ended their 2021 season ranked No. 7 in the Pac-12 conference with a 8-7-4 record.

COUGARS VS THE BUFFS. The Cougars and the Buffs have competed eight times previously with BYU leading the series 4-3-1. The last time the two teams met, BYU lost 0-3 to Colorado on Sep. 4, 2017 at Prentup Field. Former Colorado forward Tatum Barton scored two of the three, and tallied an assist on the other goal against the Cougars.
