SAN MATEO, Calif. – West Coast Conference coaches voted BYU senior midfielder Mikayla Colohan the WCC Offensive Player and Midfielder of the Year.

Colohan was one of three Cougars named to the All-WCC First Team, joining senior forward Cameron Tucker and sophomore midfielder Jamie Shepherd. Colohan was also named the WCC’s inaugural Midfielder of the Year. Sophomores Brecken Mozingo and Bella Folino received All-WCC Second Team honors. Sophomore midfielder and defender Olivia Smith was also named to the WCC All-Freshman Team.

Colohan led one of the most dominant offenses in the country as BYU ranks No. 1 nationally in scoring offense (3.44 goals per game), No. 1 in corner kicks per game (10.17), No. 1 in total goals (62), No. 2 in points per game (10.11) and No. 3 in assists per game (3.22). During conference play, the three-time Offensive Player of the Year had 6 goals, 8 assists and a conference-high of 56 shots. She led the WCC in scoring overall with 13 goals, 13 assists and 39 points during the regular season. The senior also led the way for the Cougars in earning a WCC Title and No. 4 national seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Colohan joins Santa Clara’s Mandy Clemens (1997-99) and Portland’s Christine Sinclair (2002, 2004, 2005) as the WCC’s only three-time winners of the WCC Offensive Player of the Year award (the award was modified from Player of the Year to Offensive Player of the Year prior to the 2021 spring season). Colohan, who came back for her fifth year this fall, is one of only 19 women’s soccer players in the Conference’s history to earn selection to either the All-WCC first or second team four times during her career. Colohan has been a First Team All-WCC selection each of the past four years. She was an honorable mention selection during her true freshman season in 2017.

BYU tied Santa Clara with three, Colohan, Tucker and Shepherd, for most players represented on the All-WCC first team. Tucker earned first team honors for the second time, and ties Colohan with the most overall goals in the conference this season. Tucker has been named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week two times this season, after racking up 13 goals and five assists for 31 points. The Highland, Utah native made history with four goals against Saint Mary's, joining BYU legends Shauna Rohbock, Jenni Willardson and Bobbi Tillotson as the only players in program history to record a four-goal game. She is also ranked No. 2 nationally in goals per game with 0.87.

Shepherd played the most minutes out of any BYU player this season with 1,537 in 18 games and had three assists and five shots on goal.

Mozingo was named to the WCC second team after totaling five goals, seven assists and two WCC Offensive POW titles on the season. Folino also secured her spot on the WCC second team, with nine goals and one assist. Folino has the 17th most goals in BYU history with 25 throughout her career.

Smith proved to be dominant both offensively and defensively for BYU, with seven assists, one goal and 1,172 minutes played. A WCC All-Freshman Team selection, Smith was a key component for the Cougars with her game-changing speed and started in all 18 games for BYU in the regular season.
