BYU takes on USC this Thursday at South Field

PROVO, Utah — No. 15 BYU women's soccer will host No. 12 USC this week on Thursday, Aug. 26 at South Field.

Thursday’s matchup is scheduled for 8 p.m. MDT on BYUtv. The game will also be carried live on the BYU Sports Network — BYU Radio 107.9 FM/BYU Cougars App. The matchup will also be available for streaming on byutv.org or the BYUtv app.

IN THE RANKINGS. BYU is ranked No. 24 in the DI women's soccer poll. Additionally, BYU is ranked No. 15 in the Top Drawer Soccer college soccer national ranking.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. On the road, BYU received its first loss of the season 2-1 at Auburn last Saturday evening. Freshman Abbie Kotter scored the first collegiate goal of her career in the 42nd minute of the match for the Cougars. Previously, BYU defeated Ohio State 3-0 at South Field to open the season.

ATTENDANCE. This week's game will have free attendance only for BYU students who attend New Student Orientation [NSO]. Students must have an NSO wrist band for entry.

THE TROJANS. USC is 0-1-0 after losing its season opener against Pepperdine 2-0 on Thursday, Aug. 19. The two-time National Champions finished the 2020-21 season with a 7-3-4 record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

COUGARS VS. TROJANS. Overall, the Cougars and Trojans have met ten times (BYU is 2-5-3). Most recently, the Cougars fell to the Trojans 4-3 last season on Feb. 15 in overtime. USC forward Jennifer Westendorf scored in the 97th minute to secure the victory over the Cougars after a back-and-forth battle.
