No. 5 BYU plays at Long Beach State and hosts UC Irvine

PROVO, Utah – The No. 5 BYU women's soccer team closes out non-conference play at Long Beach State on Thursday, Sept. 26 before hosting UC Irvine on Saturday, Sept. 28.

IN THE RANKINGS. The Cougars continue to climb in the United Soccer Coaches Poll after claiming the No. 5 spot this week while staying at No. 7 in Top Drawer Soccer's poll. BYU also tallied two first place votes on the week.

LAST TIME ON THE FIELD. The Cougars were led by Cameron Tucker's hat trick against Kansas State as BYU went on to take a 5-0 win. Mikayla Colohan and Kendell Petersen also found the back of the net in the victory while the defense recorded its sixth-consecutive shutout.

DEFENSE VS. OFFENSE. Elise Flake leads the Cougar offense after tallying 15 points off of seven goals and one assist. Tucker follows with four goals and one assist and Colohan has found the back of the net four times. Defensively, BYU has only allowed one goal, a penalty kick against Mississippi State, as the Cougars have outscored their opponents 22-1. In goal, Sabrina Davis has a .944 save percentage and a .15 goals against average.

THE BEACH. Long Beach State's pair of wins came over the West Coast Conference's San Diego and Drexel. Against San Diego, the Beach won 2-1 in double overtime and two games later they won 3-0 against Drexel. Kaylee Ramirez leads the team with two goals as Long Beach has scored a total of eight goals.

COUGARS VS. BEACH. BYU leads the series 7-3, but most recently lost 3-1 at South Field in 2018.

THE ANTEATERS. UC Irvine's lone victory came against Northern Colorado as the Anteaters earned a 2-0 win. Most recently, UC Irvine fell 1-0 to Central Florida in overtime. The Anteaters have only scored five goals this season with Scarlett Camberos tallying two.

COUGARS VS. ANTEATERS. BYU is looking to increase its record over UC Irvine as the Cougars currently lead 3-1. The only loss came in 2013 at South Field.
