PROVO, Utah – The BYU women's soccer team was named co-favorites with Santa Clara to win the 2019 West Coast Conference title, the league announced Monday.

The Cougars and Broncos each garnered five first-place votes to place them on top with a total of 77 points. In 2018, BYU edged Santa Clara, 2-0, at South Field to claim the crown for the sixth time since joining the conference in 2011.

Senior forward Elise Flake and junior midfielder Mikayla Colohan were selected to the All-WCC Preseason Team. Both players were named to the All-WCC First Team in 2018 and this is the second season Colohan has been selected for the preseason team. Most recently the duo has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list and the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Top 100 Players.

The preseason poll and team are picked after compiling votes from the conference's 10 head coaches.
