SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference named BYU junior forward Elise Flake as Player of the Week for Oct. 1-Oct. 7 on Monday.

Flake scored the first goal in both games against Gonzaga and Portland last week. She found the back of the net in the sixth minute in the Cougars' 3-1 win over Gonzaga in the conference opener on Thursday and then scored in the 55th minute, for the game-winner, to lead BYU to a 3-0 win over Portland at South Field on Saturday.

In the two games she recorded two goals, four points, seven shots and two shots on goal in 129 minutes on the field.

The Mapleton, Utah native leads the offense with seven goals and three assists for 17 points, while tallying 28 shots and 11 shots on goal.

This is the first time this season a Cougar has been named the WCC Player of the Week.
