Ella Ballstaedt joins BYU women's soccer team

PROVO, Utah — Ella Ballstaedt joins the BYU women’s soccer team this spring after transferring from the University of Utah.

“I am so excited to be at BYU, to be a part of this team and represent this program.,” Ballstaedt said. “I am so grateful for the trust and belief the coaches have in me and for how welcoming the team and staff have been.”

The sophomore forward played two years with the Utes. She appeared in 40 games while tallying two goals and 16 shot attempts.

Ballstaedt, a Midway, Utah native, previously played at Wasatch High School and for Utah Celtic. With the Hornets, she scored 40 goals and helped lead the team to the state semifinals her senior year. In 2015, she was named Deseret News All-State First Team and the Salt Lake Tribune All-State Second Team.

As team captain on Utah Celtic, she won three-straight state and Desert Premier League championships, while the team was ranked in the top 10 nationally.

“This is such an awesome environment to be in,” Ballstaedt said. I feel so blessed to be here and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
