UCCU Crosstown Clash Friday at South Field

PROVO, Utah – The BYU women's soccer team returns to South Field on Friday, Sept. 22. at 7 p.m. MDT, to take on Utah Valley in the UCCU Crosstown Clash.

BYU Storylines

The Cougars (2-4-3) are coming off a 3-2 victory over Kansas on Monday, the first win at South Field this season. On the game, senior forward Nadia Gomes led the attack with two goals in the first half, including a penalty kick from a hand ball. In the second half, freshman forward Cameron Tucker scored her second goal of the season off a Madie Lyons Mathews pass.

Gomes is leading the offense this season with three goals and two assists for a total of eight points. With her two goals against Kansas, Gomes clinched the No. 15 spot in career goals at BYU, passing Jessica Ringwood and Elena Medeiros.

Senior goalkeeper Hannah Clark tallied three saves in the game against Kansas and is averaging 3.7 saves per game.

UVU Storylines

The Wolverines (3-7) are bouncing back from a 2-0 loss at North Dakota State earlier this week. UVU has only played two games at home so far, including a 2-1 win over Wyoming. The other two wins came against Oral Roberts and Houston Baptist. The Wolverines have scored 11 goals and allowed 18.

Sophomore Breanna DeWaal leads all scorers with three goals. Sydney Fitzpatrick and Breanna McCarter each have two, and four other players have found the back of the net once. Brooklyn Nielsen has recorded 20 saves in goal for UVU.
