PROVO, Utah – Elise Flake's goal on a penalty kick and stingy goalkeeping from Sabrina Macias produced a 1-0 win against Utah on Saturday and capped a 7-1 spring exhibition season for BYU women's soccer.

The Cougars beat Westminster, Utah Valley, UNLV (twice), Utah State, reigning-NCAA-champion USC and Utah, with their only loss coming against UCLA. BYU scored 18 goals and conceded just seven.

Play wrapped up with three Cougar clean sheets against the Rebels, Trojans and Utes. The shutouts of UNLV and USC, as well as a 2-1 win against the Aggies, came without 2016 WCC Defensive Player of the Year Taylor Isom, who was playing with the U.S. U-23 team.

BYU comes into 2017 looking for new offensive production, as last year's seniors accounted for 44 of the Cougars' 58 goals. Flake and Nadia Gomes led the way this spring, with five goals apiece. Madie Siddoway and Rachel Bingham both chipped in two goals while Bizzy Bowen and Madie Lyons had five and three assists, respectively.

Other goal-scorers for BYU were Bowen, Lyons, Avery Walker and Brittain Steiner. Walker, Siddoway, Stephanie Ney and Alyssa Jefferson all assisted on a goal.
