Hatch gets cap with US Women's National Team
SANDY, Utah – BYU senior forward Ashley Hatch earned her first U.S. Women's National Team cap on Wednesday night, subbing in during a 4-0 American win over Switzerland at Rio Tinto Stadium.
"It was the best night of my life," Hatch said. "One I'll never forget."
Hatch entered the game in the 75th minute, replacing midfielder Tobin Heath—a fixture in recent years on the national team.
One of 24 players who reported to U.S. camp, Hatch was announced as one of the 18 players on the roster just prior to Wednesday's friendly. If she remains on the roster, she will travel with the team to play on Sunday, again against the Swiss, in Minneapolis. That would cause her to miss the Cougars' game on Friday at San Diego.
In attendance to watch their teammate on Wednesday was the entire No. 6 BYU team and staff.
At the time Hatch left for national team camp, she led the nation with 15 goals and 34 points on the season.
