Nadia Gomes named to NSCAA All-America Third Team
PROVO, Utah – BYU sophomore forward Nadia Gomes was named to the NSCAA All-America Third Team on Friday.
It is her first career All-America award. Gomes scored nine goals and made four assists in her second season with the Cougars. She scored seven of her goals in West Coast Conference play, including two in a game against both LMU and Saint Mary’s. Gomes scored five game-winning goals a year after finishing with three goals and three assists in her debut season.
This year, Gomes has been named WCC Player of the Year and All-WCC First Team, as well as NSCAA All-West Region First Team.
The Cougars went 16-3-2 and won their fourth straight WCC title this season. BYU advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to No. 1 seed Stanford 2-1.
This is the 11th consecutive season where BYU has had an NSCAA All-America award winner. Dating back to 2005, at least one player has been named to one of the three NSCAA All-America teams.
