Chambers Gardner named to Academic All-America Third Team
PROVO, Utah – BYU senior defender Sarah Chambers Gardner was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team on Tuesday.
Gardner was named to the Academic All-District 8 First Team and the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team for the past two seasons, while maintaining a 3.90 GPA in chemical engineering. She is a three-time WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll Gold Honors recipient and has earned WCC All-Academic honors the past three seasons. Last year, Gardner was NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Honorable Mention, as well.
Gardner played in 20 games this season and started in eight. She scored the game-winning goal against San Diego and assisted on three goals against Saint Mary’s, while playing 1163 minutes as the first player off the bench for the Cougars when she wasn't starting.
Gardner played every game of her junior season at left back after switching to the back line from forward. Gardner has scored two goals and made five assists in her career at BYU while playing in 71 games.
