BYUtv will broadcast NCAA First Round matchup

PROVO, Utah – No. 13 BYU women’s soccer hosts Utah Valley in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday at South Field. 

The game will kick off at 1 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on BYUtv. The match can be heard on the Cougar IMG Sports Network and ESPN 960 AM.

BYU (15-2-2, 7-1-1) won its fourth-straight West Coast Conference title on Saturday as it defeated Saint Mary’s 4-1 and Portland beat San Francisco 1-0 to give the Cougars the outright championship and the auto bid into the NCAA tournament.

Sophomore forward Nadia Gomes was named WCC Player of the Year and junior goalkeeper Rachel Boaz was named Goalkeeper of the Year. Elena Medeiros and Michele Murphy Vasconcelos also earned All-WCC First Team honors. Bizzy Phillips was All-WCC Second Team, Taylor Campbell Isom was All-WCC honorable mention and Madie Siddoway was All-WCC Freshman Team.

The Cougars host Western Athletic Conference tournament champion Utah Valley in the first round. The Wolverines (14-6-1, 7-2-1) won 2-0 in the semis and finals of the WAC Tournament after finishing in a tie for second in the regular season.

Utah Valley is led by senior goalkeeper Jessica Duffin who was WAC Defensive Player of the Year. Senior forward Kali Stubbs and senior midfielder Kasandra Anderson received All-WAC First Team honors.
