Seven Cougars earn WCC All-Academic awards
PROVO, Utah – Senior Sarah Chambers Gardner and sophomore Bizzy Phillips were two of seven Cougars honored for their academic and on-field performance by the West Coast Conference on Friday.
Gardner and Phillips were each named to the 2015 WCC All-Academic team, while Paige Hunt, Elena Medeiros, Michele Murphy Vasconcelos, Stephanie Ringwood and Ashley Hatch received All-Academic Honorable Mention.
This is the third WCC All-Academic honor for Gardner and is the first for Phillips. Gardner is one of three WCC All-Academic Team members who were also named to the Academic All-District Team. Phillips is just one of two sophomores on the team along with Pepperdine’s Bri Visalia.
This is the second WCC All-Academic award for Hunt, Medeiros, Vasconcelos and Hatch and is the first for Ringwood.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic team. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team. This season 62 WCC student-athletes met the criteria for selection.
