SAN BRUNO, Calif. – BYU junior forward Michele Murphy Vasconcelos is the West Coast Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week for her two-assist night against Long Beach State on Saturday.

Vasconcelos created both BYU goals in a 2-1 win over Long Beach State on Saturday. The opener, which gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, came on a 2-on-2 breakaway where Vasconcelos drew both center backs and then set up Elena Medeiros for the lead in the second half.

After Long Beach equalized, Vasconcelos did it again finding Ashley Hatch in the box. Vasconcelos' pass allowed Hatch to fend off two Long Beach defenders and round the goalkeeper before putting the ball in the back of the net for the game-winner.

The assists are Vasconcelos' 15th and 16th career assists and Saturday was her fourth career multi-assist game which is tied for third in program history.

This is the first WCC Player of the Week award for the Cougars and it’s the second of Vasconcelos’ career.
