Chambers named to Academic All-District First Team
PROVO, Utah -- BYU junior defender Sarah Chambers was named to the Capital One Academic All-Distrcit First Team on Thursday.
Chambers is one of four defenders playing collegiate soccer in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada to be chosen by a vote of collegiate sports information directors. She advances to the All-America First, Second and Third Team voting which will take place later this month.
The junior defender from Medford, Oregon, moved to the back line from her spot as a forward her first two seasons in Provo. Since making the switch, Chambers has started each game at left back and has been an important part in the Cougars' current 11-game win streak and their nine shutouts this season.
Chambers is majoring in chemical engineering and has kept a 3.91 GPA in her time at BYU. The only other WCC player in the District 8 First Team is Pepperdine's senior midfielder Ally Holtz. Pepperdine's Kristine Hilliard and Santa Clara's Sofia Huerta made the All-District Second Team.
