Cougars take win streak on the road

PROVO, Utah – BYU women's soccer takes its three-game winning streak on the road to face Denver on Thursday and SMU Saturday.

The Cougars (4-3-2) play the Pioneers (4-4-1) at 7 p.m. MDT on Thursday, Sept. 25. The game will be televised on Altitude 2 and can be heard on the Cougar IMG Sports Network on BYUCougars.com and the BYU Cougars app. An additional pay video stream can be found on DenverPioneers.com/collegesportslive.

The Cougars have won three straight beating Long Beach State 2-0, Oregon 2-1 and Colorado College 4-0. Forwards Ashley Hatch and Niki Fernandes have each scored two goals in a game in that span, while forwards Michele Murphy and Madie Lyons scored their first goals of the season last week. BYU has shut out its opponent in two of the past three games and four times this season.

Denver is led in scoring by Sandy, Utah, native Jocelyn Loomis with three goals. The Pioneers have won their past two games against Iowa State and San Francisco.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, BYU plays SMU (5-4-0) in Dallas at 7 p.m. CDT. The game can be heard on the Cougar IMG Sports Network and a pay video stream can be found at SMUMustangs.com/collegesportslive.

The Mustangs are led by freshman Lauren Guerra who scored two goals against Gonzaga to help the Mustangs win 2-1 in overtime. Guerra also scored the gamewinner against Colorado State. Her three goals lead the team. SMU has won three of its past four games and will play at Houston on Thursday before hosting BYU on Saturday.
