Soccer faces top Utah teams in spring finale

PROVO, Utah – BYU women's soccer will conclude its spring schedule of exhibitions with two home matches this weekend. Admission is free to all three matches and fans are encouraged to attend.

On Saturday, April 12, BYU plays its final two exhibitions against the other top two teams in Utah. The Cougars face Utah State at noon and Utah at 4 p.m. on South Field as part of the BYU Spring Outdoor Tournament.

The Utes finished third in the Pac-12 behind Washington State and national champion UCLA. They lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. Utah State is a year removed from the NCAA tournament, but finished 2013 10-7-5 including taking three NCAA tournament teams to overtime. The Aggies advanced to the Mountain West tournament semifinals before losing to eventual conference champion San Diego State.

So far this spring, BYU is 7-0-1 against collegiate competition after coming away from Las Vegas with a win and a draw on Saturday. BYU has defeated USC, Arizona State, Weber State, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Westminster and Dixie State and tied UNLV. The Cougars defeated a team of alumni on Tuesday night 1-0 on South Field.
