Cougars draw with Ducks
EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 6 BYU women's soccer team played Oregon to a 0-0 stalemate on the road Thursday night.
The Cougars and Ducks held each other scoreless over 110 minutes at Pape Field. It was BYU's second road test of the year. In its first road contest, the team beat LSU 4-2 on Sept. 2.
The Cougars (4-0-1) held Oregon (2-4-1) without a shot on goal until the 76th minute, but the Ducks put five shots on the goal the rest of the game and outshot the visitors 19-16 overall.
BYU managed just one shot in the two overtime periods, while Oregon took five and had another two corner kicks.
Cloee Colohan, Rachel Manning, Ella Johnson, Paige Hunt and Annie Amos each played all 110 minutes for the Cougars, while Kyleigh Royall started her first game of the year and played a season high 71 minutes. Ashley Hatch led BYU in shots with six, while she put four of those on frame. Colohan had three shots and two of those on goal, while Colette Jepson Smith took two shots and put one on goal.
Erica Owens only had to make four saves, but the defense was tested with Oregon's 19 shots and 11 corner kicks. Oregon was the second straight Pac-12 opponent BYU has faced. They defeated Utah 1-0 last Friday night.
The Cougars will host UC Irvine on Saturday at 7 p.m. on South Field.
