Introducing freshman Ashley Hatch

No. 15 Gilbert, Arizona

Ashley Hatch will play forward for the Cougars this season. She played high school and club soccer in Arizona where she set the record for career goals.

For a forward, it's not surprising she enjoys putting the ball into the net.

"I definitely like scoring goals," Hatch said. "Anytime I score a goal it's pretty awesome. It's my favorite thing."

She scored in the exhibition game against Haiti and had a few other good opportunities as well.

She has enjoyed her short time in Provo mostly thanks to the weather.

"I definitely like the weather," Hatch said. "It's a lot cooler than Arizona. Provo is super fun."

She's enjoyed everywhere she's been, but that hasn't been too many places.

"(Campus) is pretty big," Hatch said. "I just know the soccer facilities, everywhere we've been -- the locker room. I know where the food is and that's about it."

She enjoys french fries and should be excited to have a Chick-fil-a on campus.

"I definitely like Chick-fil-a's fries. They have the best french fries, their waffle fries are pretty stellar."

She said she's always liked BYU and came because "of its amazing soccer team, obviously, and its atmosphere."

This season she's looking to help BYU make it to the Final Four anyway she can.

"I want to do my best to help my team make it all the way."
