Four Gymnasts earn Scholastic All-America Awards

INDIANAPOLIS - The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) has announced both the team and individual Scholastic All-America award winners for the 2011-12 season with four BYU gymnasts earning individual honors.

Individually, student-athletes were recognized for attaining a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Across all three divisions 471 student-athletes hit the 3.5 benchmark while 60 of those earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Freshman Marguerite Lindstrom, an anthropology major was one of the 60 with a 4.0 GPA while sophomores KayCee Gassaway (communications) and Megan Bain (exercise science) along with senior Natalie Eyre Pickard (exercise science) all earned GPA's over the 3.5 requirement.

The entire women's team was also recognized for a team Scholastic All-America award.
 
Southern Utah University led all NCAA women’s gymnastics teams with a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.843. Following the Thunderbirds in second was Southeast Missouri State University with a 3.736 team GPA. The University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse was third with a 3.711. Rounding out the top five were the University of Utah and Brown University with GPAs of 3.664 and 3.641, respectively.
