Season-high score as Cougars top Aggies

LOGAN, Utah – Just days after achieving the highest team score of the season, the BYU women’s gymnastics team once again set a new season-high scoring 195.525 at Utah State University’s Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The dual-meet was the last home meet of the season for the Aggies, who scored a 193.675, and was the teams Senior Night.

The night started off strong on the bars for the Cougars, scoring a 48.975, a team season-high. Five gymnasts scored a 9.750 or higher, with sophomore Raquel Willman scoring a team-high 9.850. The score tied Willman’s season-high.

On the vault, Willman continued to shine scoring a 9.800. Senior team-captain Natalie Eyre-Pickard also scored a 9.800 to contribute to the team score of 48.575.

The floor exercise was dominated by the teams’ senior gymnasts. Mickell Merrell scored a 9.800 with Jennifer Lezeu and Krysten Koval both posting impressive scores of 9.850. The team total on the event was a 49.050, a season-high.

The Cougars finished the night of strong with a score of 49.050 on the beam, yet another season-high. Willman received a career-high 9.875 for her exceptional performance. Lezeu scored a 9.850 and Eyre-Pickard a 9.825.

Next up BYU will face Auburn University March, 16 in Auburn, Alabama.
