Jan. 17, 2012 – After a season-opening loss, the BYU women’s gymnastics team will compete on the road for the second week in a row, this time taking their talent to the Centrum Arena at Southern Utah University. The meet against the Thunderbirds will begin Friday night at 7 p.m. MST.

“We always enjoy going to SUU,” head coach Brad Cattermole said. “They are a very good team and they always have been. Our kids enjoy competing down there.”

The Cougars got off to a disappointing start last week, posting a team score of 190.875. BYU particularly struggled with the uneven bars as it was the first event of the night. After fixing the few problems identified in last week’s meet in practice, Cattermole is excited to improve and is seeking consistency from every gymnast.

“We’re looking for huge improvements from everyone,” Cattermole said. “As a team, our goal is to have everyone consistently hitting their routines. If we are able to perform like we are in practice, we are going to be great.”
