PROVO, Utah – The No. 26 BYU Women’s gymnastics team will compete in NCAA Regionals on Saturday at 6 p.m. PT in Pauley Pavillion on the campus of UCLA.

“We’re excited to compete at UCLA,” BYU head coach Brad Cattermole said. “The girls all came in here smiling when they heard where we were headed. The whole team is really looking forward to the opportunity to go to Los Angeles and compete.”

The Cougars will face No. 3 UCLA, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 17 Iowa State, No. 21 Arizona and No. 32 Arizona State. BYU will begin the meet on beam.

The Cougars finished their regular season strong scoring 195.350 at Southern Utah and a season-high 195.825 at University of Utah. BYU returns to regionals after not receiving an invitation last year for the first time since 1999.

“These girls have worked really hard for this,” said Cattermole. “After not making regionals last year they came in this season determined to make it.”

Tickets for the regional championships can be purchased at UCLA’s Central Ticket Office, (310) UCLA-WIN and online at www.tickets.ucla.edu. Lower level reserved tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for youth (16 and under) and UCLA students. Mid-level general admission prices are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and UCLA students.

The top two teams will receive a berth in the NCAA Championships in Gainesville, FL on April 22-24. In addition, individual event winners who did not previously qualify with their team will also advance.
