Cougs score 196.350 in Final Home Meet

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Gymnastics team came out on top of Alaska 196.350-190.125 on Kids Day in the Marriot Center.

FINAL MEET RESULTS

“What a fun event,” said head coach Guard Young. “An 11 a.m. meet on a Wednesday is a little different for us, but having the Marriott Center full of screaming kids cheering on the Cougars brought the energy today.”

The Cougars started the morning on vault. Freshman Madison Raesly-Patton tied her career high with a score of 9.825. Sydney Benson and Kylie Eaquinto followed, both with solid scores of 9.875. BYU finished the first rotation in the lead with a score of 49.100, Alaska trailing at 47.275.

With all six scores at 9.800 or higher, BYU soared on bars in the second rotation. Senior Allix Mason started strong with a score of 9.825, followed by Eaquinto scoring a 9.800. Hitting her career high, Benson followed with a 9.850. Lindsey Hunter and Anyssa Alvardo led the Cougars with scores of 9.875. Anna Bramblett wrapped up the rotation with a solid score of 9.800 for BYU.

BYU held their lead with a 98.325 to Alaska’s 94.650 going into the third rotation.

With a strong score 9.825, Raesly-Patton continued BYU’s momentum on beam. Sophomore Sophie Dudley also received a 9.825, tying her career high and holding the Cougars lead over Alaska to end the third rotation.

The Cougars went into the final rotation on top with a score of 147.075 over Alaska at 141.975.

Sophomore Eliza Miller started the final rotation earning a career high of 9.875 on floor. Benson posted a 9.850 to follow. With another career high on floor, Dudley notched a 9.925 to lead the Cougars on the apparatus. Sophomore Heidi Schooley earned a 9.800 for BYU to end the rotation.

BYU ended the meet with a score of 196.350 to Alaska’s 190.125.

The Cougars will travel to Columbus to face Ohio State on Friday, Mar. 3 at 6:30 p.m. EST.
