Two Gymnasts earn MRGC accolades for the first time of their careers
LOGAN, Utah - BYU’s Lindsey Hunter and Mina Margraf were honored by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference with accolades in week five of the 2023 season, the conference announced Monday. Both awards mark the first MRGC awards for Hunter and Margraf during their collegiate careers.
BYU last competed on Friday, Feb. 3 against No. 22 Southern Utah at the America First Event Center. Despite seven new career highs on the night, the Cougars fell to the Thunderbirds 196.925-196.475. Freshman Kylie Eaquinto earned BYU’s highest vault score of the season, notching a 9.900.
Hunter scored a 9.925 on the uneven bars against SUU, along with Boise State’s Courtney Blackson to earn the Co-Bars Specialist of the Week accolade. This new career-high score for Hunter earned her the top bars score of the meet against the Thunderbirds.
For the first time of her career, Margraf earned Beam Specialist of the Week after notching a new career-high score of 9.925 on the beam. As the top scorer on beam during Friday’s meet, Margraf has posted progressively higher scores on the apparatus every week this season.
