BYU takes home two MRGC Accolades in Week 1
LOGAN, Utah - On Monday, the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference honored senior Anyssa Alvarado as Bars Specialist of the Week and beam captain Elease Rollins as Beam Specialist of the Week.
BYU opened the season with the inaugural Super16 Vegas competition on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The Cougars took home fourth with a final score of 193.775.
Alvarado scored a 9.900 on bars in her season debut to earn a shared MRGC Bars Specialist of the Week title with SUU’s Trista Goodman. Alvarado scored over 9.900 eight times in the 2022 season. As a 2022 Beam All-American and 2022 MRGC Beam Specialist of the Year, Rollins picked up right where she left off, notching a score of 9.900 in the season opener for the Cougars.
