Abbey Miner-Alder qualifies for the NCAA Championships
PROVO, Utah – After competing in the Morgantown NCAA Regionals on Friday, April 2, senior Abbey Miner-Alder qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.
During Friday’s competition, Alder competed on three events: vault, beam and floor. Naturally, the MRGC Floor Specialist of the Year achieved her highest score of the night on floor, notching a 9.900.
While other athletes matched the score, Alder’s impressive overall NQS of 9.994 earned her the single spot in the individual competition. She will compete in the finals on April 16-17.
“It was a complex tie-breaking system,” head coach Guard Young said. “She’s No. 10 in the country on floor, so she won the tie. In the six years that I’ve been head coach, I’ve only had one athlete make it all the way to the Nationals and that was All-American Shannon Evans back in 2018."
