MRGC awards Abbey Miner-Alder as Vault Specialist of the Week
LOGAN, Utah - For the second week in a row, senior Abbey Miner-Alder received weekly recognition from the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, earning Vault Specialist of the Week in Week 2.
On Saturday, Jan. 16, BYU took on ASU in Tempe, Arizona, at the Wells Fargo Arena. While the Sun Devils trumped the Cougars by a small margin, 196.275-196.250, BYU improved scores on uneven bars, balance beam and vault while posting a season-high team score.
Alder contributed the highest score for BYU on vault, earning a 9.825, the second-highest vault score of the meet. This is Alder’s fourth MRGC accolade of the season. The senior from Mapleton, Utah, earned Gymnast of the Week, Vault Specialist of the Week and Floor Specialist of the Week in Week 1.
