10 gymnasts named 2019-20 WCGA Scholastic All-Americans
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The BYU gymnastics team had 10 gymnasts named Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-Americans, the association announced on Tuesday.
To be named a WCGA Scholastic All-American, a gymnast must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.
The Cougars combined for a 3.32 GPA, while the 10 WCGA All-Americans earned a 3.5 or higher.
Overall, the association had 53 teams with a team GPA of 3.5 or more and a record number of student-athletes (193) recorded a 4.0 GPA.
This is the fourth year in a row that Briana Pearson and Angel Zhong have been recognized. Abby Boden Stainton, Helody Cyrenne, Jordan Danbury, Shannon Evans and Abbey Miner are three-time recipients while Rachel Bain, Ashley Kernan and Brittney Vitkauskas have been named twice.
