LOGAN, Utah - For her first time, sophomore Jordan Matthews received weekly recognition from the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, earning Vault Specialist of the Week for Week 9.

In 2018, Matthews set a career-high score of 9.850 on the apparatus. On Friday, she crushed that standard, achieving a 9.900 against Utah State. In addition to achieving a new personal best, her score contributed to BYU earning its highest team vault score of the season, a 49.300.

With Mathews' honor, she becomes the fifth BYU gymnast to earn MRGC recognition this season. In all, BYU gymnasts have received 13 different weekly MRGC awards during the 2020 season.

Coming up, BYU will host its final home meet of the season against Southern Utah on Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. MDT.
