Shannon Evans earns MRGC Co-Vault Specialist of the Week

PROVO, Utah – Junior Abbey Miner and senior Shannon Evans picked up Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference honors on Monday after their performances in Cedar City against the Thunderbirds on Friday.

Earning their highest score since 2004, a 197.075, the Cougars broke several season highs during the meet, including a total of 49.325 on floor. All-American Evans made her floor debut for the 2020 season, earning a 9.900 to win the floor title for the night and MRGC Floor Specialist of the Week.

Additionally, Evans tied for first on vault, matching a score of 9.875 earned by SUU’s junior Morgan Alfaro to share Co-Vault Specialist of the Week accolades.  

For the third week in a row, Miner walked away with the MRGC All-Around title. Totaling a 39.350, she set a new career high in Cedar City. 

Coming up, BYU will head to Boise, Idaho, to face MRGC rival Boise State in the ExtraMile Arena on Friday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. MST.
