BYU earns No. 23 ranking in WCGA preseason poll

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – On Wednesday, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced the 2020 preseason poll, ranking BYU No. 23 in the nation. The team received 749 points and jumped one spot from last year’s preseason ranking.

The top three spots went to Oklahoma (1813 points), LSU (1755 points) and Florida (1680 points.) This upcoming season, BYU will face No 4. UCLA, No. 5 Utah and No. 15 Nebraska.

Within the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, Boise State earned a No. 18 ranking, while Southern Utah took the No. 26 ranking. 

At the end of the 2019 season, BYU had increased to No. 21 ranking in the nation and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the 10th consecutive season.

The Cougars will kick off the 2020 season by hosting Nebraska on Monday, Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m. MST. This will be the first time BYU head coach Guard Young and his gymnasts with face the No. 14 Huskers and the first time since the 2000 season the two programs have met overall.
