MRGC competition continues as No. 17 BYU travels to SUU

PROVO, Utah – The No. 17 BYU gymnastics team starts a road slate on Friday, Feb. 22, at Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference foe Southern Utah at 7 p.m. MST.

THE COUGARS. BYU's 196.900 was just shy of No. 10 Boise State's 197.175, as the Broncos and Cougars were even through the first three rotations. It was the highest score BYU has received this season and the fourth time the team has scored a 196 or higher.

SHANNON EVANS. The junior scored a career-best 39.500 in the all-around after receiving a 9.825 on vault, 9.950 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 9.900 on floor. Her performance on the uneven bars rewarded her with MRGC Specialist of the Week honors for the sixth straight week.

THE FLIPPIN' BIRDS. Southern Utah is coming off of the sixth-highest score in program history after receiving a 196.575 against Temple last week. At the meet, five individual scores were a 9.900 or higher. Morgan Alfaro was named MRGC Vault Specialist of the Week after scoring a 9.900.
