Evans earns MRGC Specialists of the Week honors

LOGAN, Utah – Junior Shannon Evans shared Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Bars and Floor Specialist of the Week honors after her performance against No. 3 Utah on Friday night.

Evans scored a 9.875 on the uneven bars, tying Utah's MyKayla Skinner for the top score on the event. She then went on to score a 9.900 on her floor routine. On the night, Evans posted a 39.400 to aid the Cougars to their highest opening score in program history with a 196.475.

Boise State's Courtney McGregor and Emily Muhlenhaupt also earned a 9.875 on bars to share the title with Evans. On floor, Bronco Shani Remme and Aggie Madison Ward-Sessions scored a 9.900 to tie with Evans.

The Cougars travel to conference foe Utah State on Friday, Jan. 18, for the first MRGC competition of the season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. MST.
