Gymnastics earns top GPA for BYU teams
PROVO, Utah - No. 17 BYU gymnastics earned the top combined GPA for winter semester of all the BYU sports teams.
“These athletes are really here to get an education,” head coach Guard Young said. “Our girls continually show that they are both strong students and impressive athletes.”
The gymnasts earned a combined 3.53 GPA for the 2018 winter semester, an impressive feat to accomplish during the competition season—where the Cougars also achieved the team’s highest national ranking in 13 years. The team currently holds second place at BYU in combined cumulative GPA with a 3.45, just behind women's soccer's 3.46 cumulative GPA.
Last season, seven gymnasts earned NACGC/W Scholastic All-American honors. This year's All-American recognitions will be released in the coming months.
