PROVO, Utah – Senior Brittni Hawes earned Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Bars Specialist of the Week honors in the fourth week of conference awards.

"It's always rewarding to put everything into play that you and your coaches have worked so hard to put together," Hawes said. "When we started strong on bars, I knew I had to do my job and pull my weight, so that's what I did. I focused on having fun and being confident in myself as well as my teammates."

Hawes set a season-high score of 9.925 on bars this weekend, earning the highest score of the night on the event against No. 12 Denver, Ball State and Bowling Green. Her performance led BYU to a total 49.200 score on the event.

The Cougars took third in the quad meet with a final score of 194.875, setting a new season record on vault and finishing just shy of the season high score on bars.

No. 21 BYU will face Southern Utah at Centrum Arena in Cedar City, Utah this Friday, Feb. 9. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Live streaming will be available.
