Halliday named MRGC Gymnast of the Week
LOGAN, Utah – Senior Makenzie Johnson Halliday was named Gymnast of the Week by the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference for last week’s performance against Boise State and UC Davis.
Halliday is the first Cougar to receive the weekly honor this season. She tied for first place in the all-around, scoring a 39.250 made up of season-high marks on all four events. Halliday also claimed an individual title on beam, scoring a 9.875, while notching a 9.825 on floor, 9.800 on vault and 9.750 on bars. The senior shared the award with Boise State's Shani Remme, who tied Halliday on the all-around at Friday's tri-meet.
BYU and Boise State will compete head-to-head in their MRGC rematch this week at the Gem State Invitational, with the venue moving to Boise on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. MST.
